Creative MoJo (2): The Blue Version

Since we started school (a couple weeks back now), I’ve read less and art-ed more. Nothing I want to share, just sketches and randomness. But it’s been too long since I’ve shared a “Creative MoJo”  so here’s my current project:

I’m not completely satisfied with it. LOVE the saying, “Reading is like breathing in; Writing is like breathing out.” But it’s not looking exactly how I want. I had fun with the swirlies in the background but I’m painting this on canvas and it’s not allowing for the calligraphy-like text that I want. Grr. My brain thinks up these things but I’m not quite talented enough to execute them. This might need a clean slate, starting over again with a different medium. Or maybe, I’ll just hang it on the wall.

Also, my car was on its last legs and, instead of sinking a couple grand to fix it up, I decided to get a new car. Usually, I’m practical. As a Libra, I tend to make lists, weigh options, spend hours debating and then go with the most practical of those options.

But, in a continuing effort to break out of my dark, depressive funk, I’m trying to find more things that make me happy. (I’m still battling thoughts of how selfish it feels, to be focusing on myself so much but this is the way it has to be right now for my mental and physical health. And, yes, I have to keep telling myself that.) So, after a long, hard debate, consulting with friends and family, and many lists later, I bought a car.

And it’s something not completely practical. Something I’ve wanted since high school. *clears throat* Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce BlueBelle, aka BB:

Isn’t she pretty?

  1. Congratulations on the Jeep! I understand your feelings on responsibilities and needs and selflessness vs selfishness. At some point you have to give it up on a vehicle. Having said that, we’re making ours last as long as possible, but I would love something different too.

Now about the art? Please don’t question your talent! I love your work and would be thrilled to be able to do that. I love that quote!

  2. SHE’S GORGEOUS MARY!!! I think she suits you – she’s bright and fun and makes an impression:) And it’s not selfish at all to take some time for yourself and rediscover things that make you happy. Not at all!!!! Love the painting and the saying, hang that bad boy on the wall:)

    Oh look, I rhymed. 😉

  3. I think it looks wonderful! And I love the Blue Jeep. I, myself, have a Red Beetle. I love that sucker like crazy and I name cars too. My last one was Ami, because it was a Mercury Sable–Mercury, like Sailor Mercury. Not sure if you’ll get that.

The one I have now is Dany 😀 from Game of Thrones of course.

Did you like the name BlueBelle or did you name it after the ice cream, that shit is delish.

    • Of COURSE your pretty red Beetle is Dany! That’s the perfect name for her!

Actually, it’s kind of convoluted but I was rewatching Sherlock, the Hound of the Baskervilles episode, and he was looking into a case involving a glowing rabbit named Bluebell…and my Jeep’s blue and she’s pretty (thus the Belle part) so there you go. But, hellz yeah, that Bluebell ice cream IS delish so maybe that should be my reasoning instead of that really long story. (and now you’re rolling your eyes at me…Heh.)
