Started by FeliciaChristi and Amanda, Top Off Tuesday is where a bunch of us share hot-hot-hot book covers (some we’ve read, some we’ve just drooled on). Head over to Felicia’s blog to share your ToT link and see what everyone else is swooning over.

That’s a mighty suspicious bulge down there, though it’s somewhat obscured by the author’s name. Still, I have a good imagination. And, look! A face! (Though I don’t see him as the “black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus”. He looks more like a surfer boy.)

EAST OF ECSTASY (Heart of Anemoi #4) by Laura Kaye

Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she’s been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don’t speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future.

Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father’s plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he’s been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal.

But Devlin’s love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever…or lost.

Laura Kaye has quickly become a must-read author for me. I discovered her with her newest series, Hard Ink, but have been working my way through her catalog. EAST OF ECSTASY is the fourth and final book in her Hearts of Anemoi series and, boy howdy, it doesn’t disappoint. This is one series where you for sure should start with the first book, NORTH OF NEED, and work your way through the whole series. Even though they’re written as separate romances, the stories blend together and overlap in multiple ways.

This story features Mr. Hottie Bad Boy (who, of course, isn’t *really* so bad, especially since he’s trying to prevent his evil father from doing Very Bad Things. Because it would be Very Bad if Eurus gained full control of the winds.). At first, Devlin is your typical alpha-hole but then along comes Annalise who breaks through his walls. The romance is hot, the passion is hotter. Woo-hoo!

DARE TO RESIST (Wedding Dare #0.5) by Laura Kaye
Romance
150 pages, ebook
Available now (May 2014)
Publisher: Entangled: Brazen

Trapped and tempted, this battle of wills rages all night long…

Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks click on a level that defies logic. There are only two problems. One, he’s her older brother’s irritating best friend, and two, they’re bidding on the same military security services contract.

When the competition heats up, Colton is torn between wanting to strangle Kady (and her annoying brilliance) and kissing her into submission. Which is a bad idea for a million reasons, because Kady’s submission is exactly what he craves. Being trapped in a tiny motel room with the object of his darkest fantasies will require every ounce of his restraint.

Kady doesn’t want his restraint, but Colton knows better. She deserves love, marriage, and a white picket fence—three things Colton can’t give her. But her proximity and the memory of their steamy near-miss three years ago slowly destroys his resolve. And he’s not sure how much longer he can keep his hands off…or his heart closed.

Dude. I dared to resist but couldn’t. Oh, Colton. You’re such a hottie. A dirty-minded, dirty-mouthed ex-military hottie. *pets* Yeah, yeah, Kady’s a great character, too but Colton… *fans self*

Plus, it’s a love-hate relationship between the two characters, which leads to lots of tension, innuendo-filled banter and plenty of heat. So, of COURSE, they get trapped together and of COURSE Things Happen. Which is perfect for a novella (it’s good for a full-length novel, too).

  1. I don’t think I could dare to resist either one of these (see what I did there–my awesomeness knows no bounds except for maybe Tuesday mornings) 🙂

  2. I am completely sold on Dare to Resist Mary! SOLD I TELL YOU! Dirty-mouthed and ex-military? Please and thank you! Add a enemies to lovers trope on top of that and this book is pretty much my heaven. Bless you for bringing it to my attention 😉

  3. Ooh I need to add both of these to my TBR pile! I have one of her Hard Ink books but just haven’t read it yet. Sounds like I have a lot of catchup to do. Maybe I should start with a shortie like Dare to Resist cause Colton sounds yum!

  4. I really want to pick up Dare to Resist — it looks good! — but all of Kaye’s covers are hoooot, so thanks for sharing, Mary!(:
