When the cards tell Ophelia Leoni she's supposed to marry the Prince of Hansarda, the gunrunner grits her teeth and boards the starship that comes for her. It doesn't matter if the ship's commander is the gorgeous stranger she just spent a wild, drunken night with. As a Diviner, she’s painfully aware the cards don't lie. Ever.
Boone O’Keirna knows Ophelia is trouble the second he sees the way she moves. Not about to let the little hellcat marry his sadistic half-brother, Boone pretends to be the Prince’s emissary and kidnaps Ophelia. Too bad they can’t be in the same room without him wanting to throw her out an airlock–or into bed.Even as they fight each other–and their explosive attraction–Ophelia and Boone sense something is wrong. Too much is going their way. Soon, they realize while the cards may never lie, the truth is sometimes hidden between them...and the future king of Hansarda is not one to take defeat lying down.
First Date: Ooh, Boone. It’s no wonder that Ophelia jumped into bed with you as soon as she met you. She might have been half (mostly) in the bag and not remembered you the next day but, hey, her smexy time(s) with you was exactly the stress reliever she needed. You served your function. Too bad for her you’re going to reappear in her life a lot sooner than she ever imagined and changed it completely.
Second Date: As they jet across the universe, avoiding the multiple factions that want to kill and/or kidnap them, Ophelia and Boone snark and snap at one another all while trying to avoid falling into bed again. Really, it would take one little push…just an eentsy one…for them to jump each others’ bones. Then there’s Boone’s kooky sister and Ophelia’s fiance (aka, Boone’s half-brother, the king of a big ole planet and crazy arsehole) to worry about.
Third Date: Quick and easy…that’s this book. Sure, it’s a scifi story but it’s not overly complex, even though there are other worlds and species involved and The Big Bad religious order who wants to “purify” all those who they consider unclean (pretty much everyone who doesn’t fall in line). It was a fun date, one that I don’t regret going on. Boone’s got some issues (but doesn’t everyone?) plus, he’s rugged and smexy so, really, how can you go wrong?
