Waiting On…TAKE ME ON by Katie McGarry

I’ve highly enjoyed all of Katie McGarry’s prior offerings — they’re sweet and schmatzy with just enough angst (but not too much) and, of course, some lovely passion. And I can’t believe how fast this one is coming out! I only just heard that she had another offering (yes, my head’s been up my arse this year. Just another thing that’s slipped by me. *headdesk*).

Not the biggest fan of this cover. I like the font and title style but the picture’s just not doing it for me. They both look so sad! Like someone’s just died and he’s comforting her. Plus, I keep singing Ah-Ha’s “Take Me On” every time I see the title and then I get an all-day earworm. *sings* Take me on! Take on me!

YA Contemporary Romance
544 pages, hardcover (wow, that’s LONG!)
Expected publication: May 27, 2014
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she’d never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can’t stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she’d stay away from. Yet he won’t last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it’s his fault his family is falling apart. He can’t change the past, but maybe he can change Haley’s future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they’ll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

Waiting On Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

  1. Now it’s stuck in my head! I’ve never read any of these but I see them everywhere and a ton of people enjoy them so maybe I have to check one out. Hope you enjoy 🙂

  2. hahah I have to agree Mary, I’m not the biggest fan of this cover either 🙁 I can’t believe that the release date isn’t that far away either! I hope this book ends up living to your expectations! 🙂

  3. I loved PtL but I’ve enjoy death book a little less so I’m not sure if I want to read this one or not. I’m sure I’ll cave though.

I love the title/font and colors of the cover but yeah – the couple look a little off. Not passionate like the other covers.

  4. MARY! Why did you have to go and get that song stuck in my head? WHY?! I can’t wait for this book either, Katie McGarry can do no wrong for me and I adore her. And West. So excited for his story! *waits for it to be May*

  5. I actually have an unbound copy of this but I have only read the first book so I’m not sure when I’ll get to it. I like the colors on the cover but agree they look sad.

  6. I’m surprised this isn’t up on NG yet. I feel like I’m so used to being spoiled by the ARCs of these novels and enjoying them that I never have to wait, but this time I do. Like you, not a fan of that cover at all, but I love that McGarry’s books all have just the right amount of angst. 😉

  7. Haha I’m SO glad I’m not the only one with Aha stuck in my head when I look at this! Can’t wait to read it. Not a huge fan of the cover either, but really all the covers are kind of cheesefests. I still love the books though! 🙂

  8. YESSSSSSS. I was hoping this would be at BEA. But so far I haven’t seen it listed and she won’t be at the Harlequin breakfast. Crossing my fingers. But if I can’t get it, I’m grabbing it as soon as it releases. Can’t wait for more West. LOVE these companion series.
