From USA Today bestselling author Lisa Desrochers, comes the third book in her sizzling New Adult series.
If you play with fire…
Tossed out of college and cut off by her parents, Samantha West is in pretty dire straits. So when her rocker best friend hooks her up with a job dancing at a gentlemen’s club, who is she to turn it down? Plus, there are rules to dancing at Benny’s: No touching, keep your clothes on at all times, and never get closer than three feet. Unfortunately for Sam, her first private client makes her want to break every single one of them.
Harrison Yates is scorching hot, but he’s got a past that involves being left at the altar not too long ago. Sam is determined to make him forget about his ex, but when she makes her move, it flings her life into a spiral of chaos she never saw coming.
Because Harrison Yates isn’t who he seems to be. And his secret will probably get her killed.
Let me start out with this: I didn’t read the first two before I read this one. It’s not necessary, though it will add some layers to the story if you do read the others first.
After getting her heart battered and bruised (BFF married the guy she thought she loved), losing her job and getting cut off by her parents, Sam pumps up her bad attitude and party-girl persona as a defense mechanism against getting hurt again.
Harrison (love that name. Makes me think of Harrison Ford, who I’ve always adored.) is also on the mend, protective of his heart after it, too, was battered like a ship in a hurricane. Ooh, a hot, broken guy! Just what Sam needs to heal her own heart…or so she thinks. Of COURSE, he’s bad news and she winds up in more trouble than she ever thought.
I liked the heat of this one. There was plenty going on without being too overwhelming to the romance itself. Plus, the interplay between Harrison and Sam is sweet and sexy, with plenty of deep conversations and deep kisses (woo-hoo!). I love the tension between them, love how it all clicks. A darned good read.
