ThanksVember: Giveaway of Awesome, Part III

First, CONGRATULATIONS to KIM CAFFEINATED, winner of the ThanksVember Giveaway of Awesome, Part II: Trio of Trilogies. Woo-hoo and enjoy!

I’ve been in a massive reading slump for the past couple of weeks, and it’s driving me absolutely insane. I don’t know if it’s the time of year, the change in weather or just one of those things that is so annoying to us readers. So, I’m attempting some palate cleansers.

Right now, I’m shuffling between several different books including some cartoon-style books created by two fantastic artists and bloggers: Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Broch (she is so talented — MSPaint drawings and stories are so hilarious. I’m happy to see she’s blogging a bit again with a post in October.) and Why Grizzly Bears Should Wear Underpants by Matthew Inman, aka The Oatmeal (he’s rude and sarcastic and totally tells it like it is. I love him.).

I’m also reading The Discovery of Middle Earth: Mapping the Lost World of the Celts by Graham Robb, which is totally speaking to my inner nerd. I love learning about lost civilizations, especially the Druids (maybe that explains part of my obsession with Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid series. Hum.). Just started this one but so far, it’s fascinating.

But you don’t really care about that, do you? You’re all like, “Get to the good stuff, Mar! Bring on the Big Box O’ Books!” And I will…but after this completely awesome poem. Watch it. You’ll love it (it contains the words “tits” and “arse” so, if you’re at work, be aware.).

See? This post is filled with awesome. Okay, okay. On to the giveaway. This one I’m calling “UF Awesomeness” and it includes some FANTASTIC books including some Jeanne C. Stein, some Kasey Mackenzie, a Thea Harrison AND a SIGNED JESS Haines ARC!! Plus, a bit o’ swag including some bookmarks and notecards. I know you want it…so come and get it!

  1. I was so obsessed with Hyperbole an a Half for a while Mary, it made me so sad when she went away for a couple years. I’m glad she’s slowly coming back to blogging, her drawings are absolutely hilarious. Her dog ones are always my favorite though, I see a lot of Griffin in her “special” dog:) Fantastic giveaway, someone is going to be one lucky winner!

  2. I’ve been hearing about the Hyperbole and a Half book. Might have to read that one. 🙂 Oh and loved that poem!!

Now if you are asking my fave UF series? Really? I have to pick ONE? Not gonna happen… LOL

  3. I love Hyperbole and a Half. For some reason I thought she was British and was surprised to realize she lives in Oregon. She lives in a resort town – we went there once when I was about 6.
