Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .

A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

First Date: What the…? Vampire slaves? A rebellion? Our supposed hero, Riker, killed his pregnant wife? Oh, this is bad. So, so bad. And now Nicole is all grown up and has come back home to take control of the company that “trains” and “tames” vampire slaves (as well as other rather despicable things). She seems a little wimpy and skittish (of course, that could be because a de-fanged vamp gnawed on her when she was a kid), and her brother is a real turd. God, I hope my friend calls soon so I can go save her from an “emergency”.

Second Date: Good thing my friend forgot to call because this date has turned itself around. Of *course* it was all a misunderstanding. There had to be an explanation as to what Nicole saw. And of course Nicole isn’t all about taming and training vampire slaves. Now, if only they’ll talk it out instead of just living with their assumptions. Then there are the other members of the MoonBound clan, who have little to no trust for their new human “guest”. It’s interesting to meet everyone, though, especially knowing that there will be stories coming with their names on ’em. (Maybe Hunter’s is next? *rubs hands in anticipation*) I’m finally getting on board with Nicole and Riker. While working through the misunderstandings, the tension and passion between the couple sparks some serious heat…but, seriously, they need to work through their issues quicker before it kills one or the both of them!

Third Date: Is it bad that, while I like Riker, I like Myne even better? It’s those damaged souls in books that I’m drawn to. I’m telling you, there’s something wrong with me. Riker’s just been unlucky in love but Myne, he’s been tortured and is incredibly damaged. In the end, while I enjoyed my dates with Riker quite a bit, I’m seriously looking forward to the stories of Myne and Hunter and meeting the gals who will whip them into shape.

  1. Ah so I saw this book around and was not sure. I’m however in the desperate need to find a new series that will draw me in! Maybe it’s this one? I’m not sure and you also does not sound entirely sold, hu?

  2. Lack of communication is one thing that drives me NUTS! I haven’t read one of her books yet but I’m not sure this is the one I would start with. I’m glad it turned around for you though.

  3. I guess I’m the only person in the world who hasn’t read a single thing by Larissa Ione. That’s how it feels anyway. This sounds far too PNRish for me, but I’m glad it turned out okay for you. And I always go for the tortured souls too.

  4. I think Myne is going to be the character for me too Mary! The tortured and damaged ones always call to me. I’m sure Riker is hot and all kinds of smexy, but I’m already anticipating Myne and I haven’t even met him yet. Excited to try this one, so glad your date turned itself around!

  5. I haven’t read Larissa Ione either, but I’ve meant to since so many people love her books. I’m glad this one picked up – that beginning definitely doesn’t sound promising.

  6. This sounds like a good one, glad it turned around for you and you didn’t need the ’emergency.” 🙂 I’m sure I’ll be more attracted to Myne too, from the sounds of it. Awesome speed date!

  7. STARTED IT TONIGHT! Seriously sad about the princess dress 🙁 Ok so I barely started it tonight but I will read it this weekend 🙂
