Waiting on… HELL BENT by Devon Monk

Yay–Devon Monk, the author of the fabulous Allie Beckstrom and the Age of Steam novels, has a new series and it sounds great! Magic losing its oomph, and people who can bring it back to full power? Yes, please.

Not the biggest fan of the cover…is he stalking her or she him? Are they a team? And what is he leaning against (besides a wall)? It almost looks like there’s an extra leg or something coming out of his back (or I could just be blind. That’s most likely.).

Instead of the deadly force it once was, magic is now a useless novelty. But not for Shame Flynn and Terric Conley, “breakers” who have the gift for reverting magic back to its full-throttle power. In the magic-dense city of Portland, Oregon, keeping a low profile means keeping their gifts quiet. After three years of dealing with disgruntled magic users, Shame and Terric have had enough of politics, petty magic, and, frankly, each other. It’s time to call it quits.

When the government discovers the breakers’ secret—and its potential as a weapon—Shame and Terric suddenly become wanted men, the only ones who can stop the deadly gift from landing in the wrong hands. If only a pair of those wrong hands didn’t belong to a drop-dead-gorgeous assassin Shame is falling for as if it were the end of the world. And if he gets too close to her, it very well could be….

  1. Oh, I somehow missed that she had a new series coming out. I haven’t even finished the Allie books. Devon is a local author though, I’ll have to pick this up when I see her at sci fi authorfest!

  2. More than anything, I’m DYING to know what that is behind him?? WHAT COULD IT BE? Also, I agree, I’m surprised that this magic themed book has a huge gun on the cover. Interested in what that means. I also think it’s cool that magic is said to be ‘useless’ in this world. Thanks for putting this on my radar!

  3. I still haven’t read any Devon Monk–why is that? I couldn’t tell you. Just a matter of time, I think.

Also, I think it COULD be that you don’t find the cover appealing because everyone is dressed, hee hee. I know I’d be more interested if they were half-naked. 😉

  4. I’ve never read Devon Monk, but I really like the sound of this! I also have no idea who is hunting who on this cover. And that rogue leg is giving me a double take every time!
