Waiting On…DESERT TALES by Melissa Marr and CRASH INTO YOU by Katie McGarry

If you read my blog, you know that I’m a big Melissa Marr fan. Her stories are intriguing, her characters are well-developed and her writing is lyrical. Plus, I definitely enjoyed all of her Wicked Lovely novels so I’m pretty darned excited to read another story set in this world. The cover’s really pretty, too. I love the purple and how the leaves are evocative of the other covers in this series.

200 pages, paperback

The Mojave Desert was a million miles away from the plots and schemes of the Faerie Courts—and that’s exactly why Rika chose it as her home. The once-mortal faery retreated to the desert’s isolation after decades of carrying winter’s curse inside her body. But her seclusion—and the freedom of the desert fey—are threatened by the Summer King’s newfound strength. And when the manipulations of her trickster friend, Sionnach, thrust Rika into a new romance, she finds new power within herself—and a new desire to help Sionnach protect the desert fey and mortals alike. The time for hiding is OVER.

Oh, teen drama. How I love to read about you. And Katie McGarry certainly can write teen angst like few others. Do we really have to wait until November for this one? I’ve heard around Twitter that there are some ARCs floating around already and, I’ll admit to a pang of jealousy over those who got it for review. I really want to read Isaiah’s story! Plus, LOVE the cover. I love the colors and how the title is placed and the way we’re looking down on the couple snuggling up tight in the back seat (ah, brings back memories!) (not the street racing. The backseat. Ahem.).

304 pages, hardcover
Expected publication: November 26, 2013
Publisher: Harlequin Teen

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

  1. I love these two authors so much too!!!!!
Melissa Marr writes such dark and egdy stories and I love her. Finally another book set in the Wicket Lovely world!! Woot!!!

And.. yeah you know about my insane love for Katie McGarry

  2. ISAIAH!!!! I need his story Mary. I’ve been waiting not-so patiently for 2 books hoping to see him get his HEA, so I am now desperate for him to meet Rachel and be happy:)

  3. I’ve never heard of Desert Tales before, but it does sound like an interesting read! And I’m glad you’re a fan of the Pushing the Limits series, unfortunately book one didn’t really work out for me. But I hope you get your hands on a copy soon! 🙂

  4. I haven’t read the WICKED LOVELY series! I feel very behind. I also didn’t realize that it was still going. And I’m dying for CRASH INTO YOU. I’m convinced it’s going to be the best of the three. Great picks!

    • I’m curious about that, too. Bet she’ll challenge the crap out of him.

Not sure if this is the last-last one or what re. Wicked Lovely. It’s more set in the world, rather than part of that original story, from what I understand.

  5. Wow, I am dying for both of these! I think I forgot about another Wicked Lovely book because my brain has very specific amnesia and forgets things that might make it explode from awesome. And Crash Into You!! Isaiah!!! He deserves happiness, and it sure looks like he’s finding it in that back seat. 🙂 Great picks!

  6. I adored the snippet of Crash Into You that I’ve read and I already anticipate this being the best of McGarry’s novels yet. I’m hopeful that it will pop up on Netgalley since the first two did.
