Waiting on…MAGIC RISES by Ilona Andrews

Have you all tried this series yet? It’s fantastic — plenty of intrigue, action and lurve. I mean, just look at that bad-assed gal on the cover, the flames, the lion shifter roaring in the background. It proves it, doesn’t it? Generally, I prefer simpler covers but I do like all these in this series resemble one another. Plus, bad-assed chick with a sword on the cover! How can you go wrong? (The only improvement I can suggest would be to switch out Kate with her uber-hot mate, Curran, on the cover. Shirtless. But then, it wouldn’t be a Kate Daniels story, would it?)

Urban Fantasy
368 pages, paperback
Expected publication: July 30, 2013
Publisher: Ace

Atlanta is a city plagued by magical problems. Kate Daniels will fight to solve them—no matter the cost.

Mercenary Kate Daniels and her mate, Curran, the Beast Lord, are struggling to solve a heartbreaking crisis. Unable to control their beasts, many of the Pack’s shapeshifting children fail to survive to adulthood. While there is a medicine that can help, the secret to its making is closely guarded by the European packs, and there’s little available in Atlanta.

Kate can’t bear to watch innocents suffer, but the solution she and Curran have found threatens to be even more painful. The European shapeshifters who once outmaneuvered the Beast Lord have asked him to arbitrate a dispute—and they’ll pay him in medicine. With the young people’s survival and the Pack’s future at stake, Kate and Curran know they must accept the offer—but they have little doubt that they’re heading straight into a trap…

Waiting on is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

  1. Aaaa!!! Cannot wait for this one!!!!! It’s been forver since the last book came out.. wasn’t it more than a year by now? Did you read the other stories about (Angela(??) she published in between?

    Anyway, need my Curran fix!

  2. I’ve fallen behind on this series Mary, and that is a TRAVESTY! A travesty I say! How can I not make time for Curran? I’m madly in love with him. I’ll just wait a little longer and then I can read this book and the one before it at the same time and double my Curran goodness:) Win.

  3. Crap, I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I love Kate Daniels, but I still haven’t read book 5 yet! I’d better hustle before 6 comes out or I’ll be left behind.

These covers are all so nuts, though. Kate never looks like I’d imagine her–I feel like they could totally use Maureen Johnson’s Cover Flip treatment.
