Sixteen-year-old Kyra, a highly-skilled potions master, is the only one who knows her kingdom is on the verge of destruction—which means she’s the only one who can save it. Faced with no other choice, Kyra decides to do what she does best: poison the kingdom’s future ruler, who also happens to be her former best friend.

But, for the first time ever, her poisoned dart . . . misses.

Now a fugitive instead of a hero, Kyra is caught in a game of hide-and-seek with the king’s army and her potioner ex-boyfriend, Hal. At least she’s not alone. She’s armed with her vital potions, a too-cute pig, and Fred, the charming adventurer she can’t stop thinking about. Kyra is determined to get herself a second chance (at murder), but will she be able to find and defeat the princess before Hal and the army find her?

Kyra is not your typical murderer, and she’s certainly no damsel-in-distress—she’s the lovable and quick-witted hero of this romantic novel that has all the right ingredients to make teen girls swoon.

First Date: Kyra’s on the run, bound and determined to save the kingdom from the bad baddies who are determined to take over and destroy everything she loves. She’s betrayed her best friend (attempting to poisoning her is a serious blow to the relationship), she can’t go back to her training or her house, and the king’s guards are hot on her trail. But she’s not going to give up. She can’t. Don’t you just love a girl who’s willing to put herself on the line to fight for what she believes?

Second Date: Then Fred shows up…and keeps reappearing like that itchy rash in an uncomfortable place that just won’t go away. At least, that’s how Kyra feels. She tries to ditch him multiple times (where’s the BFF Emergency Phone Call when you need it, right?) but to no avail. Come on, Kyra. He’s not that bad. Your adorable pig, Rosie, loves him and his dog plus he’s a boy who loves his dog! Definitely worth a third date.

Third Date: I’m so sad this date had to end and that there’s no chance of this relationship continuing. POISON is one of the best book dates I’ve had in a really long time — a young adult fantasy that’s sweet and fun, beautifully written and constructed with absolutely adorable characters. *cries*

  1. By no chance of the relationship continuing do you mean that it’s a standalone novel? Always sad when really good books don’t continue but bad ones keep going 🙂

  2. Ah see Mary that is why I can’t read it… I’m so heartbroken that this young author must die… I think I would be thinking about her the entire time I read the book and then.. I would also end up loving the book and be sad that it won’t even be continued!

  3. YAY!!! I’m so glad you loved this one too Mary! It was just so cute:) I wanted Kyra to stop pushing Fred away too, but other than that I so thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m really sad we won’t get any more from this world or Bridget, but it makes me happy knowing her book will be able to touch readers for years to come:)

  4. The only reason I haven’t picked it up is knowing it won’t continue. However, I know I will and this is pushing me toward doing it sooner. It sounds SO good! Love the sound of Kyra. Yep, must do it sooner…

  5. Thank you so much for helping us share Bridget’s novel POISON with readers. It is a wonderful legacy for her to have left us and your help means so so much to me, her friends and family. Thank you.
    Best wishes,

  6. Lolol, itchy rash in uncomfortable places? Oh, Mary, you have such a way with words! You always make my day.

The story behind this book is so very sad, but it’s also kind of touching that people went out of their way to promote it, especially other authors, and of course I’ll read it as soon as I can.

  7. I’m glad you loved this one too! It really was amazing and so adorable! I wish it could continue but I’m at least satisfied with the end.
