Former Agent of Death Madeline Black may have been stripped of her wings—but she hasn’t lost her purpose…

When Maddy finally killed her father, Azazel, she thought his depraved experiment died with him. But now Chicago has been infested with vampires immune to the effects of the sun, and the bloodbath is worse than she could have ever imagined. While the Agency refuses to interfere with other supernatural courts, Maddy is determined to do everything within her power to save her city—wings or no wings.

But when the leader of the vampires requests that she turn herself in or risk more deaths, Maddy becomes a target for the very people she’s trying to save. Left with no other choice, she turns to Lucifer, the one creature who has the power to help her. But her grandfather’s aid has always come at a price…

First Date: Wow, a lot has happened since I met Maddy way back in book one. She’s gained a lot of friends and lost a lot, too, including her wings. There are a ton of people out to get her, people who hate her for no other reason than who she’s related to (that would be Lucifer…pretty hard to fly under the radar when the Morningstar is a rellie).

Second Date: Good thing I like danger because day-walking vampires are flooding the City of Chicago, feeding on humans like there’s no tomorrow. And there might be no tomorrow if Maddy doesn’t figure out something quickly. Too bad her friends are worried she’s headed for the dark side with her choices and that she’s endangering herself, her baby and everyone around her.

Third Date: It’s like he had to leave in the middle of a heavy petting session, leaving me on edge. Damnit, now I’ll have to wait until Book #6 for some satisfaction to this cliffhanger.

  1. Oh, HEY. I think I’ve read book one in this series. (Though, admittedly, I have no idea what I thought of it. It’s been a while.)

I’d also like to point out that this line is PURE GOLD: “It’s like he had to leave in the middle of a heavy petting session, leaving me on edge.”

  2. You used the words heavy petting. This just might be my favorite review ever. So frustrating when you’re left….wanting:) I haven’t read this series and I’m clearly way behind if there are already 5 books out, but that might work to my advantage since I can no read them all in a row. I’ll obviously be waiting for book 6 though given there’s a nasty cliffhanger in this one:)

  3. Hahaha love this!! Nothing worse than having to stop just when things are getting good. Luckily I’m so horribly behind in this series, I probably will never have to experience this, because by the time I catch up I’m sure the author will have finished the series and moved on to frustrating you with a new mid-series heavy petting letdown. 🙂

  4. Oooh Mary I hadn’t heard of this series until now. Glad that you love it enough to stick with it! 🙂 Nooo to the cliffhanger though! Hope the wait for Book 6 isn’t toooooo long. 😉

  5. Yes, it has quite the cliffie! But I’m so attached to Maddie. I’m a bit irked at a certain chubby gargoyle though…
